Introduction
National political conventions often require substantial customize
the construction to suit the temporary needs of their convention
events. This is true for the upcoming Democratic Convention for
which a multi-million-dollar makeover is planned for Boston's Fleet
Center where the party's gathering will be held. Professionals in
the construction industry have a tremendous opportunity and responsibility
to be leaders in the design and construction of high performance
buildings and spaces. By implementing environmentally responsible
practices, architects, contractors, building owners and others can
demonstrate environmental, economic, health and community benefits.
The mission of CERC's Construction Committee is to:
• To encourage Convention leaders and construction managers
to use "green" building practices for Convention-related construction
• To increase the commitment to environmentally responsible
construction and deconstruction for the Democratic National Convention.
• To increase the environmental awareness and commitment
of construction professional for current and future building projects.
More about green construction for the Boston Convention may be
fournd at Projects and the Construction
Committee Fact Sheet.
